Anti-radiation shelters will be built in schools
This year, almost 2.2 billion hryvnias will be allocated from the state budget for the repair or construction of shelters in educational institutions. In total, 50 projects are planned to be implemented this year. At the same time, shelters in 34 Ukrainian schools will be equipped as anti-radiation.
The state will finance the construction and repair of storage facilities in educational institutions of eight front-line and border regions:
- Kharkiv region. 5 anti-radiation shelters will be built here. It is also planned to carry out major repairs of one anti-radiation shelter.
- Dnipropetrovsk region. Construction of 6 anti-radiation storage facilities is planned in the region. In addition, two dual-purpose buildings are awaiting major renovation.
- Zaporizhzhia region. 5 anti-radiation shelters will be built.
Chernihiv region. In the region, 5 storage facilities will be built and 2 anti-radiation shelters will be repaired. - Mykolaiv region. The construction of 3 new shelters and the repair of 4 protective structures and anti-radiation shelters are planned here.
- Kherson region. Construction of 3 protective structures and overhaul of 1 basement is planned in Kherson region.
- Odesa region. In the region, 3 dual purpose structures will be built and one school shelter will be repaired.
- Sumy region. The construction of 4 storage facilities is planned, as well as the repair of one anti-radiation shelter.
In addition to 50 new projects, the state will finance the completion of the construction or repair of four storage facilities, which began in 2023, it was reported in Ministry of Education and Science.
The total costs of the projects will amount to 500 million hryvnias in the Kharkiv, Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Another 200 million hryvnias will be allocated for the construction and repair of shelters in schools in Mykolayiv region and Kherson region. Chernihiv, Sumy and Odesa regions will each receive 150 million hryvnias from the state budget.
