At least 19 people have died in a bus fire in India
In India, at least 19 people died and more than ten people were injured after a passenger bus caught fire in the state of Rajasthan. This is reported by TRT World.
Tragedy struck on the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur route when thick smoke suddenly appeared from the back of the bus with 57 passengers inside the vehicle. The driver stopped the car on the side of the road, but the fire instantly engulfed the entire cabin, leaving most of the passengers no chance to escape.
According to the preliminary conclusions of the law enforcement officers, the likely cause of the fire was a short circuit in the electrical system. At least 15 people received severe burns, including two children. Some victims have burns up to 70% of their bodies, they are in critical condition.
The Chief Minister of the state, Bhagan Lal Sharma, said that he has ordered the relevant services to provide immediate medical care to the victims and provide all necessary support to the families of the deceased.

“Shocked by the tragedy that happened in Jaisalmer. My thoughts are with the families of the victims and all those affected at this difficult time.
Rescue services and the police are working at the scene of the incident. The circumstances of the tragedy are being clarified.
