At least 7 people died due to bad weather in the United States

Strong tornadoes and dangerous floods covered the central part of the United States – from eastern Texas to southern Kentucky. The storm killed at least seven people in Missouri, Indiana and Tennessee. informs ABC News.

More than two dozen tornadoes have swept through the region, and meteorologists are warning of the possibility of more deadly tornadoes, as well as the threat of flash flooding. In Missouri, Whitewater Fire Chief Harry Moore was killed, according to the Highway Patrol. The tragedy probably occurred when he was trying to help a driver who was stuck on the road.

Another fatality was reported in Hendricks County, Indiana. According to the local sheriff’s office, a 27-year-old man died after his car collided with broken electric wires. After getting out of the car, he touched an exposed wire and died on the spot from an electric shock.

Five more weather-related deaths have been confirmed in Tennessee. State Governor Bill Lee reported “tremendous destruction” caused by the tornado in the southwestern town of Selmer. States of emergency have been declared in Tennessee and Kentucky.

“We are facing one of the most severe weather events we have predicted. Please be vigilant, take all precautions and be prepared.” said Kentucky Governor Andy Bescher.

Southern states are experiencing widespread flooding, and local authorities are warning that the situation will worsen overnight. An increased threat level due to intense rain has been declared in seven states: Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana.
