China, in response to tariffs with the United States, transferred civilian officials to martial law

China has placed civilian government officials under martial law and launched diplomatic efforts to encourage other countries to drop tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump. About this informs Reuters.

Workers of the propaganda apparatus of the Communist Party played a key role in preparing China’s response, and official government spokespeople published a video with Mao Zedong on social networks with the slogan “We will never give in!”.

As part of the “martial law”, employees of the ministries of foreign affairs and trade were ordered to cancel their planned vacations and to keep their mobile phones switched on at all times. Departments dealing with issues related to the US were also strengthened.

For months, Chinese diplomats have been trying to establish a high-level communication channel with the Trump administration to protect a mutually beneficial trade relationship. Some Chinese analysts remained optimistic about the possibility of a large-scale deal with Trump that would cover trade, TikTok and even Taiwan.

Beijing diplomats have been in active contact with the governments of countries against which the Trump administration has also imposed tariffs. They sent letters asking for cooperation. According to two sources, contacts also took place with US allies in Europe, Japan and South Korea.

“China is a responsible big country. We oppose hegemony not only to protect our own legitimate interests, but also to defend the common interests of the international community.” – says the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

It also emphasized that the trade war was started by the United States and imposed on China, and if the United States really intends to solve the problem through dialogue, it should stop applying excessive pressure.
