Croatia denies Hungary and Slovakia permission to transport Russian oil

Croatia has refused Hungary and Slovakia the transportation of Russian oil through the Adria pipeline until the movement of the Druzhba oil pipeline through the territory of Ukraine is resumed.

Croatian Economy Minister Ante Šušnjar on the social network X noted that the country is ready to facilitate the transportation of oil if it complies with the norms of European Union legislation and US sanctions.

“No one should be left without fuel”, he emphasized.

Suznyar added that the Adria pipeline is capable of supplying oil from other sources to EU countries, so there is no need to continue using Russian raw materials.

“A barrel bought in Russia may seem cheaper for some countries, but it helps finance the war and attacks on the Ukrainian people. It is time to stop this military speculation,” the minister stressed.

He also responded to criticism previously expressed by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó. At that time, Budapest complained about the technical limitations of the Adria pipeline and rejected Croatia’s proposal to use it as an alternative for importing Russian oil. The Croatian side noted that the system’s capacity is sufficient for both countries.
