Donald Trump warned of “very serious consequences” if the Russian Federation does not stop the war against Ukraine
US President Donald Trump has warned that Russia may face “very serious consequences” if it does not end the war against Ukraine. He told reporters in the Oval Office that he was ready to “intervene very decisively” if an agreement on the cessation of hostilities was not reached within the next two weeks. This was reported by CNN.
“The consequences could be very serious, but we’ll see what happens. The consequences could be very serious, because it has to stop. We’ll see what happens in the next week or two, and at that point I will intervene very strongly, and if I have to be there, I’ll be there and we’ll either make a deal or we won’t,” Trump said when asked how long he was willing to allow the war to continue.
Recall that on August 22, Donald Trump announced that he would give Vladimir Putin “several weeks” after urging him to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky. The two-week term is a formulation that the US president often repeats in his speeches. He also admitted that there is “huge hostility” between Putin and Zelensky, but emphasized that he would like them to have a personal meeting.
“It’s very difficult, it’s a very personal matter from their point of view. There’s a lot of personal animosity between them, and we’re going to have to work that out. But I’d like to see their meeting first. They want me to be there. Maybe I’ll be there, maybe I won’t be. We’ll see,” added the US president.
