Electric cars account for 26% of used car imports in Ukraine
In August 2025, the Ukrainian market was replenished with more than 22.7 thousand used passenger cars from abroad. The share of electric cars has grown significantly — they accounted for 26% of total imports. This is more than diesel models (17%), hybrids (6%) and cars with HBO (3%), second only to gasoline models (48%), reports Ukravtoprom.
The growth in demand for electric cars is also confirmed by sales data: three models immediately entered the top ten most popular among imports — Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3 and Nissan Leaf.
Volkswagen Golf remains the best seller. The general TOP-10 looks like this:
- Volkswagen Golf – 1002 units
- Tesla Model Y — 827 units
- Volkswagen Tiguan — 703 units
- Renault Megane — 687 units
- Tesla Model 3 — 651 units
- Skoda Octavia – 650 units
- Audi Q5 — 640 units
- Nissan Rogue — 633 units
- Nissan Leaf — 562 units
- Volkswagen Passat — 456 units
The average age of cars registered in Ukraine in August was 8.4 years. In total, since the beginning of 2025, Ukrainians have purchased 158,500 used cars from abroad, which is 0.3% less than in the same period of 2024.
Analysts emphasize that electric cars are becoming an increasingly important part of the car market, and their popularity is growing faster than gasoline and diesel cars.
