Estonia fears “Donetsk scenario” from Russia due to propaganda campaign
The representative of the Estonian Security Service Kapo Marta Tuule emphasized that similar methods have already been used before both in Estonia and in other countries.
“Such methods have already been used in Estonia and other countries. This is a simple and inexpensive way to intimidate and destabilize society. This is a provocation, and participation in it may have criminal consequences,” – Marta Tuule noted.
In recent weeks, social networks, in particular Telegram, VKontakte and TikTok, have been spreading materials calling for the separation of Narva and the neighboring Ida-Virumaa region from Estonia.
At the same time, in its public report for 2026, the Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service noted that Russia currently has no intention of attacking Estonia or other NATO countries in the coming year, and a similar assessment will likely remain for 2027. However, Tallinn emphasizes that Moscow continues to rebuild its armed forces and uses information operations as a tool of pressure.
