Ex-leaders of the SBU and 21 representatives of the FSB will be tried for their involvement in the Maidan crimes

Former heads of the Security Service of Ukraine and 21 high-ranking officials of the FSB of Russia will be tried for crimes committed during the Revolution of Dignity. About this informs Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

According to the indictment submitted to the court, the ex-head of the Security Service of Ukraine, his first deputy, the head of the Department for the Protection of National Statehood and the director of the FSB, together with 20 employees of the Russian special service, are accused of carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine. They organized actions aimed at inciting national enmity and hatred, and illegally obstructed protests in 2013-2014.

The list of defendants includes an army general, the former head of the security service of the President of the Russian Federation, the deputy commander-in-chief of the Internal Troops and five other generals who held leading positions in the Russian special services.

The investigation established that in December 2013, in accordance with a joint conspiracy of the former heads of the SBU and the FSB, 20 employees of the Russian special service arrived in Ukraine. They took up residence in the buildings of the SBU and, with the assistance of the leadership of the Ukrainian special service, were engaged in the creation of provocative video materials.

As part of this operation, a YouTube channel was created, through which more than 250 videos aimed at discrediting social and political events in Ukraine and humiliating the Ukrainian people were distributed.

The investigation established that the Russian FSB had a direct influence on the former leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine, in particular in matters of conducting joint subversive actions and provocations aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country and inciting inter-ethnic enmity.

In addition, the former head of the SBU and the head of the department will be tried for collaborationism, since they voluntarily took positions in the illegally created “security bodies” of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine in 2022.

Since all the accused are currently in hiding and declared an international wanted person, the pre-trial investigation was conducted under a special procedure (in absentia). The pre-trial investigation in this case was conducted by investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation.
