FBI Director Decides to Resign

FBI Director Christopher Wray has announced his decision to step down at the end of President Joe Biden’s administration. About this informs CBS News.

According to Wray, after “weeks of careful consideration” he decided to leave the post before the start of the Donald Trump administration.

“In my view, this is the best way to avoid drawing the Bureau into even more infighting, while at the same time reinforcing the values and principles that are so important to how we do our work.”, he noted.

The FBI director’s position is for a 10-year term to ensure independence from political pressure. However, US presidents have the right to change the leadership of the Bureau at their discretion.

Christopher Wray was appointed by Donald Trump in 2017. But since then, he has repeatedly come under fire from Trump and his allies for allegedly politically motivated investigations into the White House.
