In 2025, Ukraine’s trade turnover amounted to $28.4 billion

In the first quarter of 2025, the volume of foreign trade of Ukraine amounted to $28.4 billion. About this the data show State Customs Service. Imports significantly exceeded exports: from January to March, goods worth $18.5 billion were imported into Ukraine, while exports amounted to $9.9 billion.
The total amount of taxed imports for this period reached $13.9 billion, which corresponds to 75% of all imported goods. The level of the tax burden on 1 kg of such goods was $0.50.
Ukraine imported the most goods from China — for $3.9 billion, from Poland — for $1.7 billion, and from Germany — for $1.5 billion. Poland ($1.1 billion), Italy ($680 million) and Spain ($650 million) remained the main export destinations.
The structure of imports was dominated by three groups of goods, which collectively accounted for 68% of the total volume of imports. Machines, equipment and transport were imported the most — for $6.8 billion. Their customs clearance brought UAH 42.3 billion to the budget, which is 27% of all customs payments.
The second position was taken by the products of the chemical industry — $3.2 billion, of which the budget received UAH 25.5 billion in customs duties (16% of revenues). Fuel and energy goods were imported in the amount of $2.5 billion, and tax revenues from their import amounted to UAH 43.6 billion, or 28% of total customs payments.
The export structure remained traditional. Ukraine sold the most food products — $5.8 billion. In second place are metals and their products ($1.1 billion), in third place are machines, equipment and vehicles ($882 million).
During the first three months of 2025, during customs clearance of exports of goods subject to export duty, 81.2 million UAH were transferred to the state budget.
