In Poland, sanctions were introduced against local companies connected with the supply of steel to the Russian Federation
On October 7, the Polish authorities added two companies registered in Poland and related to the supply of steel to Russia to the sanctions list. This was reported by the National Tax Administration (KAS).
SteelTrade and Omni GRP companies, as well as three related persons – Andriy Karpovych, Veronika Pental and Volodymyr Leshchuk, who are shareholders or beneficial owners, were sanctioned.
“Inclusion in the sanctions list is a consequence of the activities of the National Tax Administration in the field of checking the connections of persons or organizations with the Russian Federation or Belarus, which may affect the security of Poland, the department said.
It is noted that OMNI GRP is related to SteelTrade, which previously operated under the name EMK GROUP. This structure has connections with other enterprises of the “EMK” group, working in the metallurgical sphere in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
According to KAS, the companies supplied steel with “special characteristics” suitable for high pressure casting. This material is widely used in the production of weapons due to its strength and resistance to extreme conditions. The department emphasized that there is a high probability that this steel got to Russian defense enterprises.
The taxpayers also established a mechanism by which SteelTrade and Omni GRP products were sent to Russia through a network of related companies, which contributed to the strengthening of the industrial potential of the aggressor country.
Inclusion in the sanctions list means the introduction of restrictions on companies and owners: freezing of financial and economic assets, a ban on providing any resources directly or indirectly, as well as exclusion from public procurement and tenders in order to prevent the circumvention of sanctions.
