Russia carried out a massive attack on the DTEK mine in the Dnipropetrovsk region. At the time of the attack, 192 miners were underground, and they were evacuated. This is reported in a DTEK statement.
“On the eve of the start of the heating season, the enemy struck again at the Ukrainian energy sector. During the attack, 192 mine employees were underground. The evacuation of our colleagues to the surface is underway“, – the company noted.
Deputy Minister of Energy Anatoliy Korzun later reported during the telethon that there were no injured employees:
“The evacuation of employees is almost complete. Only 12 people out of 192 who were caught in this emergency situation underground remain. But these are the people who will ensure the operation of the mine. There is no threat to their lives. The situation is fully controlled”.
He specified that mining rescuers immediately arrived at the scene and provided the necessary assistance. Together with the units of the State Emergency Service, it was possible to localize and extinguish the fire that broke out at the mine’s transformer substation.
DTEK also emphasized that this is the fourth large-scale attack on the company’s coal enterprises in the last two months.
