In Ukraine, an annual preventive medical examination will be introduced for citizens over 40 years of age
In Ukraine, starting in 2026, annual preventive medical examinations will be introduced for citizens who have turned 40 years old. It is planned to allocate 10 billion hryvnias for the implementation of this program. This was notified by the Ministry of Health.
“From January 1, 2026, we plan to start a national program of preventive medical examinations (checkups) for citizens aged 40 and over. UAH 10 billion is provided for this in the draft state budget. It is about an annual free examination for the presence of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and mental disorders, says the message.
Examinations will be carried out in state, communal and private medical institutions that will meet the requirements of the Ministry of Health. The implementation of this program should ensure early detection of diseases, increase the effectiveness of treatment and reduce the rate of premature mortality.
Let us remind you that on August 6, Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko explained that the medical examination will include checking for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and mental disorders. According to him, these diseases are the main causes of premature mortality and disability.
“Most of them can be detected and effectively treated if you act on time. The state will fully pay for waiting, and a person can choose any institution: state, communal or private. We will define a list of mandatory studies and requirements for institutions to guarantee quality. The goal is to make prevention a regular part of life and reduce the price the country pays for untimely diagnosis, Lyashko noted.
