Joe Biden underwent surgery to remove cancer cells from his skin

Former US President Joe Biden recently underwent an operation to remove cancer cells from the skin and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. This was reported by his spokesman, NBC News informs.

Biden’s press office specified that he underwent Mohs surgery – a method of surgical treatment of common forms of skin cancer, during which the affected tissues are removed gradually until all cancer cells are completely removed.

The exact date of the operation has not been disclosed. In late August, Biden was photographed after attending church in Greenville, Delaware, with a visible scar on his head.

82-year-old Biden already underwent similar procedures during his presidency. In 2023, during a routine medical examination, a cancerous lesion on his chest was removed. At the time, the president’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, said it was basal cell carcinoma, one of the most common types of skin cancer treated with Mohs surgery. Then the tumor was completely removed without the need for additional treatment.

In the same year 2023, similar neoplasms were removed from the first lady Jill Biden – one was located above the eye, the other was on the chest. Joe Biden’s health has been in the spotlight since his poor performance at the June 2024 debate. Already in a few weeks, he announced that he would not participate in the presidential elections.
