Kellogg said that Russia could be forced to make territorial concessions to end the war

Special Representative of the President of the United States Keith Kellogg stated, that in order to end the war, Russia can be forced to make territorial concessions and be obliged to abandon the use of force in the future.
He said this on February 15 during the panel discussion “Peace through strength: a plan for Ukraine” as part of the Munich Security Conference.
Kellogg noted that the concessions may include territorial changes, which should be realistic from the point of view of the subsequent peace process. In addition, Russia may enter into legal non-aggression commitments in the future.
He also emphasized the importance of sanctions pressure, particularly in the energy sector, because 70% of Moscow’s income comes from the sale of oil and gas. According to Kellogg, restrictions in this area could significantly reduce the financing of the war by Russia.
Another important direction of US policy, according to the special representative, is the weakening of the Kremlin’s international alliances. Washington plans to undermine Russia’s ties with North Korea, China and Iran in order to limit its options for waging war.
“We will try to force Russia to take actions that will be inconvenient for it”, Kellogg emphasized.
At the same time, he admitted that it will be difficult to use force to force the Kremlin to make peace, since the history of the war against Ukraine has shown that Moscow is ready to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of soldiers to achieve its goals.
Kellogg also noted that it is still too early to talk about Trump’s specific plan to end the war. He explained that the administration of the US president has been in power for only 25 days, so the details of a possible peace process have not yet been determined.
