Lithuania receives new batch of M14 anti-tank mines for military depots

The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense announced that M14 anti-tank mines manufactured by the Estonian company Eesti Arsenal have arrived at military depots. They are designed to destroy enemy combat vehicles from the side.

According to the department, the deal is worth about 3 million euros. Lithuanian Minister of National Defense Robertas Kaunas said that replenishing ammunition stocks is part of the country’s consistent strengthening of its defense capabilities.

“By accumulating sufficient ammunition stocks – from air defense missiles to anti-tank mines – we are sending a clear signal: through consistent actions we are strengthening the country’s armed forces and the security of the entire region,” Kaunas emphasized.

The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense explained that anti-tank mines are designed to destroy or disable armored vehicles, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and other armored vehicles.

Such devices are most often used to block roads, forest trails, and other narrow passages. This allows them to slow down the movement of enemy forces, limit their maneuvering capabilities, and complicate offensive operations.

In addition, the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense, together with the Defense Resources Agency, plans to allocate about 3 million euros to develop a drone to intercept unmanned aerial vehicles. Lithuania is also considering purchasing drones and low-flying object detection systems from Elbit Systems.

The acquisition of the M14 mines was part of Lithuania’s broader policy to strengthen its defense capabilities and counter modern threats in the region.
