Lukashenka denied that he apologized to Zelensky

The press secretary of the President of Belarus, Natalya Eismont, denied the information that Oleksandr Lukashenko apologized to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi during a telephone conversation that took place at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia in February 2022. This is reported by rosZMI.

At the same time, Eismont confirmed the fact of the conversation between Lukashenko and Zelensky in the first days of the war. She noted that the contact was initiated by the emotional reaction of Lukashenka’s youngest son, Mykola, whose phone contained Zelensky’s personal number.

“What was the essence of that conversation: our president first of all talked about the fact that the conflict broke out on the territory of Ukraine, on the territory of Zelenskyi, and after a while he will have to be more responsible than anyone else for the deaths of people! That is why our president called to sit down to the negotiating table, which was done: 3 rounds of negotiations in Belarus and then Istanbul.

The President of Belarus did not ask for any apology from Zelensky, for the simple reason that we have nothing to apologize for.”, explained the press secretary.

This statement was made in response to the words of Volodymyr Zelensky, who in an interview with the American podcaster Lex Friedman said that on the second or third day of the war, Lukashenko apologized for using the territory of Belarus to launch Russian missiles over Ukraine. Zelenskyi also noted that Lukashenko even offered to retaliate against the Mozyr Oil Refinery.
