Mali breaks off diplomatic relations with Ukraine

The local authorities were offended by Kyiv's support for the actions of the Tuareg rebels, who defeated a convoy of the Malian military and the "Wagner" PMC.

The West African country of Mali has announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Ukraine. The local authorities accused Kyiv of supporting the Tuareg rebels, who defeated a convoy of Malian soldiers and Russian mercenaries from the “Wagner” PMC.

U communique, published by Mali’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, accuses Ukraine of supporting terrorism and repeats Kremlin narratives about the “Nazi regime.” The government of Mali noted that it had previously maintained neutrality in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, but now calls the Ukrainian government “neo-Nazi and thieving.” In addition, the Malian authorities plan to go to court over the statements of Ukrainian officials who supported the Tuareg.

Tuareg rebels earlier defeated a group of “Wagnerians” on the border with Algeria, killing and wounding dozens of junta and Russian soldiers. After fighting in the border town of Tinzahuaten, they seized armored vehicles, trucks and tanks, while raising the flag of Ukraine. The French publication Le Monde reported that the Ukrainian special services are actively cooperating with the rebels, providing them with strategic information and teaching them how to use drones.

The publication Bloomberg reported that the rebels in Mali announced the elimination of 84 mercenaries from PMK “Wagner” and 47 soldiers of the Malian government army during the fighting from July 25 to 27 near the city of Tinzahuaten on the border with Algeria. HUR representative Andriy Yusov confirmed that the Tuaregs received critical information from the Ukrainian special services, which allowed them to conduct an effective operation against the Wagnerites. He also announced further success in the fight against Russian war criminals.
