Microsoft invites organizations from Ukraine to join the European grant competition for AI

Microsoft has announced the launch of the LINGUA competition, the goal of which is a wider representation of European languages ​​in the field of artificial intelligence. About the initiative reported the vice president of the company Brad Smith. Ukrainian organizations can also participate.

The LINGUA competition invites researchers, non-governmental organizations, cultural institutions and startups to create high-quality open datasets that will help languages ​​with limited digital resources, including Ukrainian, to strengthen their presence in the world of AI. The initiative was launched in cooperation with the APERTUS project led by EPFL and ETH Zürich and in consultation with the Council of Europe.

Selected projects will be able to receive funding of up to $50,000 for data collection activities, and larger initiatives will be considered separately. Participants will also receive Azure computing credits for up to two years for data processing needs, technical support and the opportunity to collaborate with the Microsoft AI for Good Lab, EPFL and ETH Zürich. In addition, media support is provided through the Microsoft AI for Good Lab ecosystem and partner networks.

Acceptance of applications began on September 26, 2025 and will continue until November 11. The names of the winners will be announced on January 20, 2026.
