OpenAI company presented the new AI model o3-mini, which is already available in ChatGPT and via API. It is designed to provide faster and more accurate answers in the fields of science, mathematics and programming.
“We’re releasing OpenAI o3-mini, the newest, most cost-effective model in our reasoning series, available in both ChatGPT and the API today. Previewed in December 2024, this powerful and fast model pushes the boundaries of what small models, providing exceptional STEM capabilities—with a strong focus on science, math, and coding—all while maintaining low cost and reduced latency OpenAI o1-mini”, — says the OpenAI press release.
The model will support streaming and give developers a choice between three levels of computing resources – low, medium and high – to optimize performance according to their needs.
Another feature of the new model was the integration of search functions, which allows you to find relevant answers with links to relevant sources. At the same time, this function is currently in the testing phase. Users can try the o3-mini for free, and this is the first time that such a model has been made available to free users on ChatGPT.
