Orban said that Hungary launched a mechanism in the Druzhba situation that forced Ukrainians to act

Prime Minister Hungary’s Viktor Orban said that Budapest activated the mechanism in the Druzhba oil pipeline situation, which forced Ukraine to present its version of events. He wrote about this on his Facebook page, noting that the Hungarian commission is already returning to Budapest with information received during its trip to Ukraine.

The day before, the State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Energy, Gabor Csepek, reported that the delegation had arrived in Ukraine to negotiate the resumption of the oil pipeline and inspect its condition.

“A meeting held by the Ukrainian company Naftogaz for representatives of embassies has just begun. Our representative, Ambassador Antal, is also present at the meeting. Only ambassadors were allowed to participate. After today’s expert meeting, we will be able to understand the state of the pipe much better,” Čepek noted.

According to Orbán, the launch of this mechanism meant that Ukraine could not help but express its position, which, according to him, “forced the Ukrainians to act.”

“They are forced to say something because it is inconvenient to admit that, in their opinion, there is nothing to show there. We are still not allowed there, although we would be happy to look at even this “nothing”,” he stressed.

Earlier, a Hungarian delegation led by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy arrived in Ukraine to discuss the resumption of the Druzhba oil pipeline, assess its condition, and prepare conditions for the resumption of oil supplies.

At the same time, the management of Naftogaz, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, held a briefing for foreign diplomats on the consequences of Russian attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline. Representatives of 31 countries, including the G7 countries and Ukraine’s European partners, reviewed photo and video materials, received explanations and details about the attack and its consequences, as well as information about the difficulties currently faced by oil pipeline workers.
