Parliamentary consultations on substitution of U.S. aid from USAID have begun

At the parliamentary level, consultations with European partners regarding the possible replacement of financial support provided by Ukraine to the United States have begun. A corresponding statement did The Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy after the suspension of funding of projects and programs by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
“The scale of the problems faced by Ukraine and dozens of other countries in connection with the termination of American aid is much greater than it may seem at first glance. Ukrainian organizations and other entities that received grants from USAID did not have time to prepare for such drastic changes”, – the statement says.
The committee emphasizes that while the audit continues, it is necessary to take operational measures to prevent the destabilization of key processes in the country and to develop a further strategy of actions.
“At the parliamentary level, consultations have already begun with European colleagues about the possible replacement of American aid – at least until the final decisions are made in Washington. However, due to the pause, further normalization of the processes may take place in three, four, five yes, even six months”, – stated in the statement.
The Committee also recalled that thanks to USAID grant support, a significant number of cultural initiatives were implemented in Ukraine, which contributed to the creation of jobs and the development of young talents. In addition, the grants have become an important source of funding for many media outlets, as the advertising market that used to sustain them has still not recovered from the full-scale Russian invasion.
