Russia’s repeated strike on railway infrastructure caused train delays
Russian troops struck again at Ukraine’s railway infrastructure this morning, causing delays in train traffic. This was reported by Olexander Pertsovsky, the chairman of the board of “Ukrzaliznytsia”, who noted that the company is organizing transfers for passengers and quickly restoring damaged areas.
“In the morning – a series of regular arrivals on the railway infrastructure. We are entering this week focused and collected to restore, transport and export again”, – Pertsovsky emphasized.
Because of this, the railway team is working in maximum mobilization mode to ensure the transportation of passengers and the safe movement of trains. Despite the attacks and difficult weather conditions, the trains continue to run. Four trains arrived in Kyiv even during the curfew, one more – to Khmelnytskyi, Dnipro and Lviv.
“The entire railway team makes sure that every journey is, first of all, safe, warm and with care”, – Pertsovsky added.
Free rest rooms at train stations were opened for passengers waiting for flights, and “Ukrzaliznytsia” introduced additional notifications about possible delays, bus transfers and international connections. Some trains are now running on detour routes, so delays remain likely.
The Russian army has recently been systematically attacking railways in various regions of Ukraine. First, Chernihiv and Sumy regions came under attack, where damage to trains and tracks was recorded, leading to significant delays. Later, attacks took place in other regions, in particular, the station and locomotive depot in Fastiv were bombed.
