Ten owners of Tesla vehicles filed a lawsuit at the Commercial Court of Paris on June 11, demanding that the lease contracts of the vehicles be declared void, the original cost of ownership reimbursed, and other damages.
“They no longer want to be associated with Tesla or personify Elon Musk and his recent political views,” – said the lawyer who represents the interests of the owners.
The lawsuit cites an article in the French Civil Code that requires the seller to “guarantee to customers the peaceful use of the goods sold,” the lawyer said, calling it an old law that applies in unprecedented circumstances because of Musk’s role in the White House.
A Commercial Court judge will decide whether the case has merit and whether others can join the lawsuit. After the lawsuit was filed, several other Tesla owners also expressed interest in the case, according to the attorney.
