Tesla will introduce a robot taxi on August 8

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, announced that the company will introduce a robot taxi on August 8. The news came on Friday afternoon, when companies usually keep the news under wraps, on the Musk-owned X platform.

He writes about it CNN.

There are not many details about the robot taxi yet. Musk only wrote:

Tesla Robotaxi introduce 8/8″. He previously stated that Tesla will create a car without controls that can be operated by a human. He also said that Tesla cars equipped with fully autonomous driving will gradually become better and better to drive with software updates.

Tesla has been promising to release autonomous cars for several years. In 2019, the company announced that it plans to start operating a robot taxi by 2020. However, these predictions did not come true.

Tesla currently offers Full Autonomous Driving (FSD) as an optional extra for its cars. This system costs $12,000 or $199 per month for a subscription. However, experts who have tested the FSD say it is still a long way from being able to drive itself without human intervention.

Despite all the challenges, Tesla remains a leader in the development of autonomous cars. The presentation of the robot taxi on August 8 could be a significant step forward for the company.
