The Cabinet of Ministers introduced a moratorium on cutting off electricity and gas to debtors in the frontline areas
After the trip of the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyridenko, to the front-line communities of Donetsk region and Dnipropetrovsk region, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to introduce a moratorium on cutting off electricity and gas to debtors in the frontline areas.
Yulia Svyridenko noted that the Cabinet of Ministers instructed specialized bodies to prepare action plans for a stable heating season, taking into account the characteristics of each front-line region.
“The supply of light and gas must be uninterrupted, therefore disconnections for debts that have accumulated during martial law are unacceptable. The government has given a corresponding mandate,” the prime minister said.
According to her, these measures are designed to guarantee the stable operation of the energy infrastructure in winter and provide light and heat for citizens, despite Russian attacks.
Let us remind you that in September 2025, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Serhii Nikolaychuk announced that the increase in housing and utility tariffs for the population in Ukraine is an inevitable step to stabilize public finances.
“If we talk more specifically about price adjustments for housing and communal tariffs, we also perfectly understand that today’s price subsidization is quite expensive for the state. This creates additional pressure on the budget, on quasi-budgetary balances. Therefore, sooner or later it will still have to be equalized,” Serhii Nikolaychuk explained.
