The French company will pay over 3 million euros to Ukraine in the case of abuse of public procurement
Ukraine has signed an agreement with a French company to return more than 3.3 million euros of overpaid funds in the case of abuses during state procurement at Polygraph Complex “Ukraine”. This was reported by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The agreement was concluded by the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office of France on July 8, and on September 3 it was approved by a court in Paris. According to NABU, this compensation will be the first in the history of anti-corruption proceedings that Ukraine will receive from abroad.
The investigation established that Polygraph Combine “Ukraine” bought materials from a French company at an inflated cost through an Estonian intermediary firm. At the same time, the former director of the enterprise received an unlawful benefit in the form of copyrights for the designs of protective elements for documents.
NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office announced suspicion against eight persons, including the former director of Polygraph Complex.
“This result was made possible thanks to the joint investigative team of NABU, SAP, law enforcement officers of France and Estonia under the auspices of Eurojust. Cooperation with foreign colleagues was established through the OECD platform GLEN, NABU said in a statement.
Polygraph plant “Ukraine” is a state-owned enterprise engaged in the production of securities and strict reporting documents.
