The House of Representatives of the US Congress voted to provide $60.84 billion in aid to Ukraine

The House of Representatives of the US Congress voted in favor of the draft law on the allocation of military aid to Ukraine, according to which it will receive $60.84 billion, of which $23 billion will go to replenish the American stockpile of weapons.

Voting results: 311 congressmen voted “for”, including 210 Democrats and 101 Republicans, 112 congressmen opposed, 7 members of the House did not vote. This became known during the broadcast of the meeting.

US President Joe Biden promised to immediately sign the law after its adoption.

“I will sign this law immediately to send a message to the world: We stand with our friends and will not allow Iran or Russia to succeed.”, – said the head of the White House.

After the announcement of the voting results, the representatives of the Congress took out Ukrainian flags, but later they were asked to remove them from the podium, because according to the regulations, it is forbidden to use the flags of other countries during the voting.

The money allocated to Ukraine will be distributed as follows:

$23.2 billion – to replenish American military stocks, from which Ukraine used to receive weapons;

$11.3 billion – for current activities of the US military in the region (in particular, training of Ukrainian servicemen);

$13.8 billion – for the purchase of weapons for the Ukrainian forces and the provision of defense services;

$26 billion – for continued oversight and accountability for assistance and equipment provided to Kyiv.

After the vote, within 45 days, the US State Department and the Pentagon will have to provide a strategy for further support to Ukraine.

For reference:

Before today’s vote, for four months, Republicans in the US House of Representatives had blocked a bill drafted by the Joe Biden administration. It included, in addition to assistance to foreign partners, appropriations for strengthening measures against illegal migration and strengthening the southern border of the United States.

Before the vote, the House of Representatives of the US Congress rejected all amendments to the bill, most of which were submitted by Republicans – Victoria Spartz, Marjorie Taylor Green, Kat Cammack.
