The March of Equality and charity LGBTQ+ festival will be held in Kyiv

On June 1, the world begins celebrating Pride Month, and for the first time since the beginning of a full-scale war, Ukraine is joining this movement again. In Kiev will take place KyivPride, which will include a charity festival and other events to support the rights and visibility of the LGBTQ+ community.

This year’s KyivPride will be special, as it will be held in Ukraine for the first time since the start of a full-scale war. The event will focus not only on supporting LGBTQ+ rights and visibility, but also on raising funds for Ukrainian defenders on the front lines.

Charity festival and KyivPride Awards

On June 9, KyivPride Charity Educational Festival will be held in the Kyiv art center Closer. The festival program includes: lectures, discussions, creative workshops, a fair of Ukrainian brands, psychological consultations, master classes and a musical program.

The KyivPride Awards will also be presented at the festival, which recognizes the contribution of politicians, businesses, media and public figures to support the equality and rights of LGBTQ+ people. All funds received during the festival will be directed to the Pride collection to help Ukrainian defenders.

March of Equality in the Kyiv metro

On June 16, the March of Equality, which was last held in Kyiv in 2021, will take place. For security reasons, this year’s march will take place in the Kyiv metro. The event will be coordinated with the authorities and will meet all security requirements. Participation in the March will be limited to 500 people, including activists, representatives of LGBTQ+ and human rights organizations, volunteers. The organizers of KyivPride emphasize that in the conditions of war, holding Pride is especially important, as it is an opportunity to declare Ukraine to the whole world and attract additional help for those who defend our independence.
