The Ministry of Development and Trade plans to open new transit points for evacuated residents of frontline regions
The Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine plans to open additional transit points for evacuated residents of the frontline regions. About this informs Ministry of Development press office.
The department noted that the evacuation from the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions is ongoing. The ministry is coordinating this process, providing logistics and basic needs for people moving to safer areas. This happens thanks to cooperation with regional administrations, local authorities, volunteers and communities.
In August, the pace of departure from the Donetsk region increased noticeably – almost 70% of people who left the region during the summer did so in recent weeks. At the same time, the number of evacuees in the Dnipropetrovsk region is decreasing, most are leaving on their own. Only one in five applies for help and uses the transit point in Pavlograd.
“80% of people evacuate on their own, and only about 20% need accommodation in places of temporary residence. At the same time, many communities understand that people who leave dangerous regions are a great potential for them. Therefore, they actively integrate them into the life of the community, help with accommodation and employment”, — explained Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Ryabikin.
Currently, six intermediate evacuation centers are operating in the Dnipropetrovsk region for short-term stay of families with children, people with disabilities, and groups with reduced mobility. A temporary evacuation center for 200 places has been set up in Kramatorsk.
The point in Pavlograd remains the main hub for temporary accommodation. Every day, it receives about 400 people who receive financial, humanitarian (food, hygiene products) and medical assistance. They also provide legal and psychological counseling, help with housing and tickets for further travel.
Due to the significant load on Pavlograd, the Ministry of Development is preparing to open new transit points in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions. In addition, evacuation wagons will be added to the trains, which will run daily from Pavlograd to Kyiv and Lviv. The Ministry, together with local authorities and partners, constantly responds to the needs of forcibly displaced persons and works to improve conditions in transit centers.
Currently, 1,088 places for temporary residence with more than 75,000 places are officially operating in Ukraine. They are already 90% full. The Ministry of Development is working on expanding this network, planning to add more than 5,500 places.
