The Moldovan Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador due to the violation of airspace by drones
On February 13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova summoned Russia’s ambassador-designate to protest the violation of national airspace by drones and to demand an explanation of the incident. About this informs NewsMaker.
On the night of February 13, during a massive Russian attack on Ukrainian regions, several drones flew into the territory of Moldova, one of which exploded. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country strongly condemned this case. The ministry summoned the Russian ambassador-designate over the incident, demanding an official explanation and protesting the airspace violation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized serious concern about the night attack, stressing that such cases are unacceptable:
“These incidents pose a serious threat to the safety of our citizens, as well as stability in the region. Fortunately, no one was injured, but such violations of Moldova’s airspace are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.”.
The President of Moldova, Maya Sandu, also commented on the situation with Russian drones that flew into the territory of the country during the massive shelling of Ukraine:
“Moldova did not attack anyone. We have neutrality enshrined in the Constitution. The Republic of Moldova contributed and did everything for peace. However, Russian drones and bombs are falling and exploding in our villages. And we have to admit that we have no way to protect ourselves from them.”
