The number of injured children as a result of military operations against Ukraine has increased

Since February 24, 2022, the number of affected children is only increasing. As of the morning of May 9, 2024, according to the official information of juvenile prosecutors, 546 children were killed and more than 1,330 were injured of various degrees of severity. In total, more than 1,876 children were injured as a result of military operations against Ukraine.

Children were most affected in the following areas:

• Donetsk – 530
• Kharkivska – 365
• Khersonskaya – 150
• Dnipropetrovsk – 137
• Kyivska – 130
• Zaporozhye – 108
• Mykolaivska – 104

Only during the last days:

• On May 8, as a result of shelling by Russian troops in the city of Kharkiv, four children were injured: an 8-year-old girl, two 14-year-old boys, and a 15-year-old boy.
• On May 7, a 6-year-old girl was injured as a result of shelling in the city of Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region.
• On May 6, two teenagers, aged 15 and 14, were injured due to shelling by the enemy in the town of Ugroida, Sumy district, Sumy region.
• On May 6, a 16-year-old girl was injured in the shelling of the Russian army in the village of Borov, Izyum district, Kharkiv region.
