The Parliament of Finland has completely banned real estate transactions for citizens of the Russian Federation

The Finnish Parliament unanimously supported the government’s initiative to completely ban real estate transactions by citizens of the Russian Federation. About this reported on the official website of the Ministry of Defense of Finland.
Defense Minister Antti Häkkiänen called this decision an important manifestation of unity at the national level.
“I consider it extremely important and I am very glad that the parliament so unequivocally supported this initiative, the purpose of which is to strengthen national security. This decision sends a clear signal: we will not allow Finland to be destabilized.” he said.
The next step, according to the minister, will be the development of a government resolution, which will determine the list of states waging an aggressive war and posing a potential threat to national security. In addition, the adoption of legislation is planned, which will allow to respond more effectively to already completed real estate purchases by citizens of such countries.
It will be recalled that the relations between Finland and Russia deteriorated significantly after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine in 2022. In response, Helsinki revised its security policy, joined NATO in 2023, imposed sanctions on Russia and closed its border due to increased threats.
