The Polish president plans to change almost every section of the country’s constitution

The newly elected President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, who previously announced his intention to carry out a large-scale constitutional reform, plans to make changes to almost every section of the country’s Basic Law. About this informs RMF FM.

At the end of September – beginning of October, Navrotsky will create a special council that will work on the draft of the new constitution. It will be headed by Dariusz Dudek, who was recently appointed as an adviser to the president.

The changes will apply to almost the entire text of the constitution. First of all, the president seeks to transform the state system, giving himself much wider powers. A separate block will be the reform of the judicial system, in particular the clarification of the article on the National Council of the Judiciary – its competences, work procedures and the procedure for electing members.

Navrotskyi’s team also insists that the new constitution prohibits judges from participating in any political activity. In addition, the document will contain provisions on guarantees for the protection of state borders, the strengthening of the role of local self-government and the preservation of the Polish currency. The final proposals for changes are planned to be presented in the autumn at the congress of the “Law and Justice” party. Przemysław Charnek and Bartlomiej Wrublevskyi will work on constitutional issues.

It will be recalled that on August 6, in his first address as president, Nawrocki announced the start of work on a new edition of the Basic Law of Poland. He stated that he expects the new constitution to be adopted by 2030. The head of the president’s office, Pavel Shefernaker, promised that the preparation of changes will take place in cooperation with experts and with the participation of all political parties.
