On the night of June 12, the Russian army launched an attack on Kharkiv with the help of drones. Fires broke out in the Saltiv, Slobid, and Shevchenkiv districts of the city, burning residential buildings, shops, and cars. Currently, 14 victims are known, informs Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov.
“From 01:37 to 03:08, the enemy once again attacked Kharkiv with kamikaze drones. 11 hits were recorded and one more “shahed”, which, fortunately, did not explode. Residential areas, educational institutions, kindergartens, and infrastructure came under fire. Dozens of cars were damaged, windows in schools and houses were broken. At least 14 victims were recorded, including of them – 4 children”, – says the message.
Fires broke out in the territories of residential buildings and educational institutions. In some cases, debris fell near children’s playgrounds. One of the blows damaged the elevator shaft of a high-rise building, the other destroyed part of a non-residential building and a public transport stop.
Oleg Sinegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration provided details of the night attack:
“Shevchenkivskyi district. Hitting the ground on the territory of the educational institution. As a result of the shelling, grass and debris caught fire. The glazing of a multi-storey residential building was damaged. It was also recorded that the Geran-2 type UAV hit the ground. The glazing of 3 apartment buildings was damaged. As a result of the fall of the debris of the enemy drone, the grass on an area of 100 square meters was on fire.
Slobid district. As a result of the shelling, a store with an area of 200 square meters caught fire. The shop building was damaged.
Saltivskyi district. As a result of the UAV hitting a residential high-rise, civilian cars caught fire. The facade of the multi-story building was also damaged. The UAV hit the roof of the technical floor of a 9-story residential building. A fire broke out. An unexploded UAV was found on the roof of the warehouse.
14 people received injuries of varying severity, including a 2-year-old boy, a 12-year-old girl, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old girl.”
