The Russian Federation may attack the Kyiv HPP dam: which part of the capital will be at risk
Russian television is actively discussing the intentions of the Ukrainians to blow up the dam of the Kyiv Sea.
Russia is again making ambiguous statements, allegedly the Ukrainians are preparing to blow up the dam of the Kyiv HPP. These absurd and wild inventions are actively discussed on the Internet. TSN.ua journalists researched the topic of the dam of the Kyiv HPP: how this structure can be dangerous for Kyiv, whether it is possible to blow it up with missiles and what the Russians can actually do.
Military expert Ihor Romanenko is convinced that such statements of Russian propaganda are only provocative.
“Why should we destroy the dam of the Kyiv HPP? What is the purpose of this? None. This is just a huge loss from the military, economic and ecological point of view. By making such statements, Russian propagandists are carrying an outright delusion, hoping that someone will believe them. Although, certainly, those who are “chained” to Russian TV can “swallow” it“, commented Ihor Romanenko, military expert, retired lieutenant general and deputy chief of the General Staff (2006-2010).
The Kyiv Reservoir is the highest downstream among the cascade of six reservoirs on the Dnipro River. Its approximate volume is 3.7 cubic kilometers of water.
The volume of water is colossal. From a physical point of view, if the dam is removed, such a powerful mass of water can lead to catastrophic consequences not only for Kyiv, but also for many territories along the Dnieper riverbed.
According to Romanenko, on July 8, Russian missiles managed to break through our air defense system.
“This happened, in my opinion, due to the lack of missiles in our air defense to shoot down enemy targets. And all these terrible hits in Kyiv are a signal to our Western partners that we need immediate help. Not the promised Patriots, but real ones, without delay and in a large number. As soon as Putin sees that there are weak points in our defense, he will launch new missile strikes, including on the Kyiv HPP dam.”, – notes Ihor Romanenko.
