The UK warned of the risks of nuclear war
The world is on the threshold of the third nuclear era, when effective mechanisms to prevent a global catastrophe are almost completely absent. Such a statement did Chief of the British Armed Forces, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, speaking at the Royal Joint Armed Forces Institute in London.
Admiral Radakin emphasized that the danger of nuclear war is increasing due to the collapse of the international security architecture. According to him, the new nuclear era is marked by the rapid spread of destructive technologies and nuclear weapons, while the control mechanisms that existed before have almost completely disappeared.
“We are at the dawn of the nuclear age, characterized by the proliferation of nuclear and destructive technologies, and the almost complete absence of the security architecture that existed before.” – noted the head of the Armed Forces of Great Britain.
His words came against the backdrop of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s accusations against Russia for allegedly supporting North Korea’s nuclear program. According to NATO, Moscow could offer Pyongyang the most sensitive technologies in exchange for the participation of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine.
Radakin also warned that potential cooperation between Russia and North Korea could include the exchange of advanced technology, which would only increase global instability and the threat of nuclear conflict.
