The Ukrainian Legion in Poland received more than a thousand applications
Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Bodnar reported, that the Ukrainian Legion in Poland has already received over a thousand applications.
According to Bodnar, the first recruitment, signing of contracts and formation of the first Ukrainian unit took place in November. The next stage of recording is scheduled for January 10, 2025.
“I will not say the number now, as it is kept as closed information for the time being at the request of the Ministry of Defense. In total, we have more than a thousand applications that are currently being considered by the relevant commission. We hope that this number will constantly grow.” – said the ambassador.
He also said that the Polish side created “quite serious conditions” for basic military training for the volunteers. After its completion, depending on specialization, legionnaires undergo training at specialized training grounds, where they prepare to perform specific tasks.
“And already after that, formation takes place in the relevant military unit on the territory of Ukraine, where those who signed up for the Ukrainian Legion are already under the direct command of one or another military unit.”, Bodnar emphasized.
We will remind that in November, the first group of volunteers of the Ukrainian Legion in Poland took an oath of loyalty to Ukraine. The ceremony took place in one of the educational centers of the country.
