The wife of the head of the Main Operational Directorate of the SBI owns elite real estate, but does not work: media

Iryna Geida, the wife of the head of the Main Operational Department of the DBR, Ihor Geida, owns real estate worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, while there is no information about her business or official employment. About this it is said in investigative journalism NV.

Journalists received documents confirming that Iryna Heyda owned luxury real estate. At the same time, there is no evidence that she is a business owner. There is little information about Ihor Heyda in open sources. It is known that in 2020 he was appointed to the SBU, and before that he worked in the SBU and headed the Kharkiv regional branch of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.

Journalists paid attention to his wife’s property. In April 2021, Iryna Heyda purchased an apartment with an area of 143.4 square meters in the elite residential complex “Bulvar Fontaniv” in Pechersk. According to the documents, the cost of the apartment in 2021 reached 340 thousand dollars. In June of the same year, she purchased two parking spaces – each of them cost 687.5 thousand hryvnias. In general, the apartment and 2 parking spaces cost the Heyda family $390,000.

NV journalists also managed to find out that from 2017 to 2019, Iryna Heyda did not officially work. During this period, her husband headed the Kharkiv branch of the Antimonopoly Committee and received an additional salary from the SBU.

The total amount of family savings at the end of 2019 was also relatively small: about 37 thousand dollars, of which 35.5 thousand dollars were in cash, 28 thousand hryvnias were in bank accounts, and another 620 euros were also kept in cash.

“Due to the absence of Igor Heyda’s declarations for 2020 – 2021 in the public space, the sources of income that would allow his family members to make such expensive purchases remain unknown. It seems extremely doubtful that the Heyda family was able to save more than $300,000 in 2020 and in less than 4 months of 2021.” – the head of the legal department of the Anti-corruption Center, Olena Shcherban, commented on the situation.

Another property of Iryna Heyda attracted special attention. In 2021, she sold a luxury house in Kharkiv with an area of almost 400 square meters. “According to official documents, in 2012, Heyda bought it for 320,000 hryvnias, and in 2021 – sold it for 550,000 dollars. Journalists believe that in 2012 the price could have been artificially low, because a similar house then cost about 21,000 dollars.

The SBI reported that they had checked the property of the official’s wife:

“According to the results of a logical and arithmetical check of the declaration, no violations of the requirements of the anti-corruption legislation in the part of the declaration were established”.
