EU and the world

The World Economic Forum begins in Davos

On January 20, the World Economic Forum (WEF) will start in Davos, Switzerland. This year, its theme was “Cooperation for the Intellectual Era”, informs Euronews.

About 3,000 leaders from more than 130 countries are expected to participate in the event. Among them, approximately 350 government officials are expected to attend, including 60 heads of state and government representing key regions of the world.

“If the chasm between hopes and fears was in clear evidence last year, the context for Davos 2025 is no less controversial. Geo-economic uncertainty, trade tensions, cultural polarization and climate anxiety rumble on, but there is also the promise of rapid innovation – artificial intelligence, quantum computing and biotechnology – to improve productivity and living standards”, – says the WEF press release.

Among the key political leaders who will join the event are Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States (he will speak via video link in the format of an interactive dialogue), Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, as well as leaders from Europe, Africa, South America and Asia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi will also attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, delivering a speech on January 21. The Ukrainian House in Davos will be open from January 20 to 23, where panel discussions will be held within the framework of the forum.
