There are no risk-free options in war: Stoltenberg spoke about strikes on Russian territory

The decision on whether to allow Ukraine to use Western long-range missiles to strike Russian territory will depend on the individual decisions of NATO member states. This was stated by the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg in an interview for LBC.

“These decisions should be made by individual members of the Alliance, but it is important that we consult closely on these issues”, he said.

He also emphasized that “there are no solutions without risk” in war.

“We have a full-scale war in Europe, started by Moscow. There are no risk-free options in war. But I continue to believe that the biggest risk for us will be the victory of President Putin in Ukraine”, – explained Stoltenberg.

The issue of permission to strike Russia: what is known

Ukraine is waiting for the decision of its Western partners regarding the permission to use long-range weapons for strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation, received as part of international military aid.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, recently stated that Ukraine has not yet received permission for such strikes. He emphasized that Ukraine only wants to be able to attack the military bases that Russia uses to bombard Ukrainian cities.

Earlier, the head of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, confirmed that Ukraine has both a legal and a military right to strike targets on the territory of Russia.
