Today, Ukrainians around the world will write a Radio Dictation of National Unity
On October 27, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language — the day of honoring the memory of the Venerable Nestor the Chronicler. Traditionally, on this day, Ukrainians take part in the Radio Dictation of National Unity.
This year, the All-Ukrainian Radio Dictation of National Unity will be held for the 26th time. Every year, this tradition unites thousands of Ukrainians — from schoolchildren to military personnel, government officials and ordinary citizens who write dictations at home or at work. Anyone can join in writing the radio dictation — both in Ukraine and abroad. The idea of such a union acquired special significance during a full-scale war.
“People often say that for them, participating in radio dictation is a way to show that they respect and support the Ukrainian language. This is especially valuable, because the radio dictation is no longer just a media project, it has grown into a large-scale flash mob, — noted the coordinator of the radio dictation and executive producer of Ukrainian Radio Yulia Sheludko.
You can listen to or watch Radio dictation 2025 online on the following platforms:
- on the waves of Ukrainian Radio and Radio Kultura;

The author of the text of this year’s, 25th All-Ukrainian Radio Dictation of National Unity is the Ukrainian writer Yevheniya Kuznetsova. Her text is called “We Must Live!”. Kuznetsova is the author of the novels “Ask Miyechka”, “Ladder”, “Whole Sheep”, as well as the non-fiction “Mova-mech. As the Soviet Empire Said. In 2023, the novel “The Ladder” became the BBC Book of the Year, and in 2025 it was shortlisted for the Central European Angelus Prize.
The radio dictation will be read by Natalia Sumska – Ukrainian theater and film actress, People’s Artist of Ukraine since 2000, TV presenter, laureate of the Shevchenko Prize (2008) and the National Film Award “Golden Spinning Top”.
Participants will be able to check their texts after the publication of the official version on the websites of Ukrainian Radio and Suspilne Kultura on October 29. Until then, traditionally, everyone can send their works for checking to the organizers – online or by mail. This must be done by 11:00 on October 29.
To submit the text online, you need to take a photo or scan the work and send it in jpg, png, jpeg, tiff or pdf format to the email address [email protected]. Paper letters are accepted at the following address: Kyiv, Khreshchatyk St., 26, 01001, with the date on the postmark no later than October 28.
The results of the radio dictation will be announced after checking all received works. The exact date will be announced later. For example, last year the dictation was held on October 25, and the results were published on December 4.
