Trump administration plans to conclude 90 trade deals in 90 days

The administration of US President Donald Trump intends to conclude 90 trade deals during the 90 days during which most US tariffs have been suspended. About this informs Reuters.
White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said on Fox Business Network that US Trade Representative Jameson Greer, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and other officials are up to the task.
“So we’re going to do 90 deals in 90 days. It’s possible. At the end of the day, Trump, the boss, will be the chief negotiator. Nothing gets done without his very close scrutiny.” Navarro stressed.
Another key goal for the period of suspension of duties is to restore the confidence of financial markets. Investors are currently selling off U.S. government bonds, sending interest rates higher and the dollar weaker amid fears of a possible recession and the return of inflationary pressures.
It is expected that on April 14, the head of the trade representation of the European Union, Maros Šefčovych, will arrive in Washington – one of the first international delegates who will take part in urgent negotiations with the American side regarding customs measures.
The US Secretary of Commerce emphasized that Trump will personally participate in the negotiations and, if a favorable agreement is reached, will sign an agreement on reducing tariffs. At the same time, if a compromise is not reached, countries may face high tariffs.
