Trump administration to close all USAID foreign missions by September 30

The Trump administration will close all USAID foreign missions by September 30. The United States will end the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s work abroad as part of a major restructuring of its remaining foreign aid operations. About this informs The Guardian.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued an executive order to eliminate the agency’s international staff, handing over control of foreign aid programs directly to the State Department. The solution covers hundreds of USAID employees worldwide, including diplomatic personnel, contractors and employees in more than 100 countries.

Instead, the State Department will create a special A1OF fund with a budget of $2.9 billion. According to Rubio, the fund will allow prompt response to crisis situations, develop cooperation with key allies, support repatriation and counter strategic challenges from major rivals.

It will be recalled that in February, the American administration actually suspended the activities of USAID, which financed international organizations. On March 10, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who temporarily headed the agency, announced the end of a government audit that halted 83% of USAID programs.
