Trump met with Zuckerberg at Mar-a-Lago
CEO of “Meta” Mark Zuckerberg met with the newly elected US President Donald Trump in Mar-a-Lago. About this informs Traffic lights.
“Meta” hopes that Zuckerberg can establish a new relationship with Trump, showing a more moderate position on the policies of the new administration. The meeting also coincided with Zuckerberg’s efforts to protect Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, from possible action by the new presidential administration.
At the same time, Meta announced the termination of diversity, equity and inclusion programs, including recruitment, training and supplier selection initiatives. In a memo to employees, the company explained that those programs would be canceled.
The company this week canceled its fact-checking program in the US and eased restrictions on discussing controversial topics such as immigration and gender identity, responding to criticism from conservatives. Earlier, Meta announced significant changes to its content moderation policy, effectively ending a years-long program to fight misinformation through fact-checking.
