Trump said that Zelensky wants the Democrats to win the US elections and called him “the best salesman in history”
The US presidential candidate from the Republican Party, Donald Trump, made a loud statement that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, wants the Democrats to win the 2024 presidential election, where Trump himself is competing against the current Vice President, Kamala Harris. About this informs Reuters.
“I think that Zelensky is the best salesman in history. Every time he comes to the country, he receives 60 billion dollars”, the politician said during a rally in Pennsylvania.
“He so wants them to win these elections, but I will do it differently – I will achieve peace”Trump added.
The former president also promised that if he wins the election, he will immediately contact the presidents of Ukraine and Russia to urge them to reach an agreement to end the war. At the same time, he did not provide any details about his peace plan.
Neither representatives of Zelenskyi’s campaign nor Kamala Harris have yet commented on Trump’s statements. Polls indicate a tight race between Trump and Harris in the election.
We will remind you that Volodymyr Zelenskyi arrived in the USA to participate in the meetings of the UN General Assembly. During his visit, he called on Western partners to strengthen their support for Ukraine and help achieve “joint victory for a true and just peace.”
Western countries, in particular the United States, have provided Ukraine with multibillion-dollar aid since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022 and have imposed numerous sanctions against Russia. Donald Trump, however, repeatedly criticized such expenses, considering them a waste of money, and avoided clear statements about supporting Ukraine’s victory in the war.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi previously noted that he cannot predict Trump’s actions in the event of his election victory, but he hopes that the Republican will continue to provide military support to Ukraine. In an interview with the BBC in July, Zelensky admitted that cooperation with Trump can be difficult, but he is ready for hard work.
