Ukraine has officially banned the sale of flavored cigarettes and liquids for electronic cigarettes

From July 11, a ban on advertising electronic smoking devices, including electronic cigarettes and tobacco heating devices, as well as the sale of flavored cigarettes and e-cigarette liquids, comes into force in Ukraine. This is in accordance with the Anti-Tobacco Law No. 1978-IX, passed at the end of 2021.

Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health reminds on strengthening anti-tobacco legislation.

In particular, the following are prohibited from now on:

• Advertising and promotion of the sale of tobacco products, electronic cigarettes and their liquids.
• Flavor and aroma additives in any component of the product: filter, paper, packaging, capsule.
• Cigarettes and roll-your-own tobacco cannot have technical characteristics that allow changing their smell, taste or smoke intensity.

The only exception to this prohibition is the production of such products for export.

In addition, the law prohibits the introduction into circulation of electronic cigarettes, refill containers and liquids that have a characteristic smell or taste obtained by adding fruits, spices, herbs, alcohol, candies, menthol or vanilla. It is forbidden to add vitamins, caffeine, taurine and other additives to liquids that may create the impression that the product has health benefits, is associated with vitality or has the property of making emissions colored.

The Center for Public Health also reminds that since April 2023, unscheduled measures of state control in the field of anti-tobacco legislation have been resumed in Ukraine. One of the reasons for conducting control is the appeal of citizens.
