Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi will hold a meeting with US President Donald Trump next week in New York, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. He will also participate in the summit of the international Crimea platform and a number of economic events. The head of state said this during a conversation with journalists.
“We are preparing for the UN General Assembly. There will be a large number of bilateral meetings. Business, technologies, defense industry, “mineral business”. This will be united by a large economic meeting. And a meeting with the President of the United States of America. Also, most likely, the meeting of the first ladies of Ukraine and the United States regarding the humanitarian issue, regarding children, said the President of Ukraine.
Zelensky emphasized that he plans to raise the issue of security guarantees at the meeting with Trump. According to him, he seeks to “receive signals of how close we are to understanding that the security guarantees from all partners will be as we need them.
“We have prepared the basis for security guarantees, which Europe is ready to go for, taking into account that the United States of America will be nearby. We held many discussions, there was a dialogue at various levels, including among the leadership of our armies and general staffs with Europeans and Americans. I would like to receive for myself exactly these signals, how close we are to understanding that the security guarantees from all partners will be as we need them, – the president explained.
In addition, Zelenskyy announced that a summit devoted to the return of Ukrainian children deported by Russia, as well as the fifth summit of the international Crimea platform, will be held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
“We are counting on the summit on the return of Ukrainian children who were abducted by Russia. Today there are 38 delegations ready to participate in the summit, this is a strong representation. There will be a large coalition regarding the return of children. There will also be a Crimean platform. We also count on about three dozen countries. Also in such a wide format, Zelenskyy added.
