Zalishchyki: a unique Ukrainian town

Seasoned tourists claim that Zalishchyki is a unique Ukrainian town, the likes of which can only be seen in America, in the state of Arizona, and on the banks of the Moselle River in France.

It is located in the Ternopil region, surrounded by Dniester steeps – in the place where the rapid Dniester bends sharply and changes its direction by almost 180 degrees. To see this unearthly beauty, it is worth going to the observation deck of the village of Khreshchatyk. From there, one of the most beautiful panoramas of Ukraine opens, without exaggeration – a view of the city with the meander of the river.

Historical facts.

It is interesting that this small town managed to be the capital of the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic and Poland twice. And it is not just ancient, but really ancient, because traces of settlements from the Trypil culture period were found on its territory. The first documentary evidence about the city appeared in 1340, when it was considered a patrimony of the Polish king.

Before the arrival of the Soviet authorities, Zalishchyki was the center of wine production. In addition, the city was popular as a resort among the Polish nobility, thanks to the mild, almost Mediterranean climate. By the way, the first unofficial nudist beach operated there in Poland.

Unfortunately, during the Second World War, the resort life of Zalishchyki completely stopped – almost everything in it was destroyed, and after the hostilities, no one started reviving it.

Today, Zalishchyki attracts many tourists, because here you can find a great place for camping with friends and picnics with wonderful views. Visual pleasure will simply be provided to you, because you will not find such a combination of urbanism and nature anywhere. Here you can not only swim, sunbathe, admire nature and enjoy local cuisine, but also explore the sights of this unique town.

In the 1940s, the church was closed, the property was looted, and later salt warehouses were set up there, which left traces on the inner walls.
